The National Retail Association (NRA) is calling for last minute entries into its prestigious Rewards for Excellence program.
The awards are recognised nationally as the highest accolade in retail, and acknowledge excellence in ambition, leadership and innovation.
This year will also see the Young Retailer of the Year included in the awards line up to bring together the most anticipated retail awards event in Australia.
NRA CEO Ian Winterburn said those nominated will have shown remarkable commitment to the industry across a number of areas.
“We’re encouraging retailers to nominate a standout colleague or their own business – we want to recognise those who are thought leaders in their field, whilst promoting the diversity of viable career opportunities in this ever-evolving industry,” Mr Winterburn said.
Past nominees and finalists have acknowledged the nomination process as a valuable chance to reflect on current processes and goals within their organisations.
Popular car retailer Supercheap Auto, the NRA’s 2015 Large Retailer of the Year winner, took out the top gong for its innovation and unique customer experience.
Supercheap Managing Director Chris Wilesmith Auto said the business had benefited greatly from participating in the program.
“The NRA awards are a fantastic opportunity to connect with other retailers and talk about opportunities and common challenges,” Mr Wilesmith said.
NRA 2015 Medium Retailer of the Year Nextra Chermside was recognised for its contribution to the industry during a time of disruption.
Nextra Chermside General Manager Shannon Hickey said the title was a welcome reward for the hardworking team.
“I take enormous pride in these businesses and try to instil the same amount of enthusiasm in my 60 plus staff,” Ms Hickey said.
“I use this NRA title as a way of reminding staff that the incredibly hard work that they put in to making Nextra Chermside what it is, doesn’t go unrecognised.
“What better recognition can you get than receiving this award from Australia’s largest and most representative retail industry organisations?”
